Text Box: The Outstanding Social Worker Award (OSWA) is the highest award conferred by the President of Singapore to acknowledge and recognise the outstanding contributions by dedicated social workers of Singapore; for their consistent and professional contribution towards the improvement of social service, healthcare or community sector. This year, a new award, Promising Social Worker Award is introduced to accord recognition to up-and-coming social workers who are newer to the field and nonetheless have made a difference in the lives of clients and the community alike.  Nominations for the Outstanding Social Worker Award 2008 and the Promising Social Worker Award 2008 are now open. Text Box: ORGANISERS The OSWA was initiated in 1998 to recognise the outstanding achievements of social workers.  The event is jointly organised by the Singapore Association of Social Workers (SASW) and the National Council of Social Service (NCSS), with support from the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and ExxonMobil.   Award winners will receive their awards at the Annual Tea Reception at the Istana hosted by the President of Singapore on the evening of 31 October 2008.
