Medical Social Worker

Medical Social Worker

The Challenges

You will be responsible for the delivery of services in the Medical Social Work Department, while working closely with other multi-disciplinary professionals to pursue holistic care for patients.

You will provide direct social work services, including casework, groupwork, counseling, making home-visits, conducting assessment interviews on patients and their family members and also conducting family psycho-education programmes.

We are also looking for Medical Social Workers to work in the following programmes:

Aged Psychiatry Community Assessment and Treatment Service (APCATS)

APCATS is a community-oriented psycho-geriatric outreach service that provides assessment and treatment for homebound or frail elderly patients. Its programmes provide assessment and treatment and coordination of services to improve the continuity of care.

National Addictions Management Service (NAMS)

NAMS treats problem gambling and other behavioural addictions (internet, gaming, etc), and substance addictions (alcohol and drugs).

Community Mental Health Team (CMHT)

The primary aim of the CMHT service is to maintain adult persons with mental illness (18 to 65 years old) in the community for as long as possible and reduce hospital readmissions and length of stay.

The Requirements

  • Bachelor in Social Work or Master in Counselling / Family Therapy (Applicants with Master in Counselling / Family Therapy will be expected to complete a Graduate Diploma in Social Work)
  • Those with experience in children / addiction / mental health services or programmes will be preferred
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team

Remuneration will commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
