Family Social Work Chapter

Objectives


To define Family Social Work (FSW) practice in response to the changing social service landscape in Singapore.

To enhance the practice of FSW.

To improve professionalism in FSW practice.

To promote and nurture innovative approaches in FSW practice.


Who are eligible?


Members of SASW with the exception of Student Members.


Composition of Management Committee


Office bearers will be nominated by the membership and submitted to the Executive Committee of SASW for appointment.

The Chairperson may be co-opted into the Executive Committee of SASW.

The Chapter Committee comprises 4 office bearers and up to 3 committee members as follows:
o
Chairperson
o
Vice-Chairperson
o
Secretary
o
Treasurer; and
o
Up to 3 Committee Members.


Terms of Office


The term of office of the Chapter Committee shall follow that of the Executive Committee of SASW.

All office bearers except for Treasurer shall not serve more than 3 consecutive terms in the same office.

The Treasurer shall serve not more than 1 term.

Any vacancy arising before the expiry of the term of office of the Chapter Committee shall be filled by re-nomination by the Chapter Committee with the approval of the Executive Committee of SASW.


Responsibilities and Powers of Chapter Committee

The responsibilities and powers of the Chapter Committee are to:


Direct, plan and implement activities to fulfil the objectives of the Chapter.

Manage and account for the finances of the Chapter.

Secure funding for the activities of the Chapter.

Co-opt additional committee members with the approval of the Executive Committee of SASW.

Form sub-committees deemed necessary for the Chapter to achieve its objectives.

Carry out any other necessary functions and tasks of the Chapter.


Dissolution


The dissolution of the Chapter will only take effect with the concurrence of the Executive Committee of SASW.

In the event of dissolution of the Chapter Committee, all debts and liabilities legally incurred on behalf of the Committee shall be fully discharged and the remaining funds, if any, shall revert to the SASW.
