About the Disability Social Work Chapter

The Disability Chapter was formed in 2019 with the objectives of:

  • achieving role clarity and identity for disability social workers;
  • developing practice guidelines for disability social work practice; and
  • enhancing social work collaboration and leadership in the disability sector

What We Do

The Chapter has brought together senior social work practitioners in three sub-sectors (early intervention, special education schools and adult disability) to develop sub-sector specific practice guidelines.

In addition, quarterly network sessions are organised to bring together social workers for professional learning and exchange of ideas.

How You Can Be Part of The Chapter

The Disability Chapter membership is open to members of SASW who are interested in disability issues.

Non-SASW members may join as Friends of DC and participate in selected network sessions.
